Property of the U.S Army!

So today I am not blogging about my son Jayden, nothing has really changed since my last blog we have an appt coming up so I will keep you posted! Instead I am blogging about my hero and best friend, my husband Jamie!

This is my hubby reciting the Oath for re-enlistment!

As you all know, or perhaps some of you do not know, I am married to a Soldier in the U.S Army; as with all things, it comes with its blessings and it curses, or pros and cons; however you want to look at it. So when my husband told me YESTERDAY that he was going to re-enlist for 3 more years TODAY... I was pretty shocked! Now we had talked about re-enlisting and we knew we had to eventually do it to not lose our healthcare, when my son needs this transplant, but I never expected it to come this soon. We had 11 months left until my husbands ETS date and with such a short amount of time left, we wouldnt have been granted the compassionate re-assignment we requested, which we really want and need at the moment. Plus, Tricare has been one of those blessings I was talking about! My sons medical expenses have been more than an average person accumulates in a lifetime or two and he is only 14 months old...(which is why we jokingly call him our "million dollar baby" )we haven't paid for any of it, other than copays for medication, so far! With the re-enlistment restrictions as well it was for the best that we went ahead with it now. ..........So instead of having an ETS date of February 21. 2011 "our" new ETS date will be March 4, 2013, Im pretty sure the time will fly by just as these past years have. We are still debating on whether or not "we" want to be lifers or not?! I am so proud of my husband for doing this for our family, he is sacrificing his freedom to fight for ours in a way... being that we are now "Property of the US Army" for the next 3 years and all. He is so selfless and courageous to not only re-enlist without getting a bonus, or station of chioce, or any other perks because this is what is best for our family right now but he is a full time Soldier, husband AND father, who ALWAYS has our families best interest in mind and is ALWAYS no matter what there for us, no matter what the circumstance and he never (well almost never) complains! : )

So no matter where we are in the world or what my husbands job may be I love and support him, and know that no matter what "cons" our life may come across we need to overlook them and focus on the "pros." Our life can only be as good as we make it, and I plan on making it pretty darn good for my family so we can be good together, because as Marge Kennedy said, "In truth a family is what you make it. It is made strong, not by number of heads counted at the dinner table, but by the rituals you help family members create, by the memories you share, by the commitment of time, caring, and love you show to one another, and by the hopes for the future you have as individuals and as a unit."

So our family will be made strong by our commitment to each other and our son, the undying Love we all share, the memories we will make along the way, and the time and effort we will put into making any situation work!

I absolutely Love my husband with all my heart and am happy to say "I am the VERY PROUD WIFE OF A US SOLDIER, HOOAH!" : )

P.S. *I'm totally giggling to myself for writing Hooah but it fit the occasion so what the heck huh?!*
