Jayden is now on the transplant list, he was put on the list February 9, 2010. He has PELD (Pediatric End Stage Liver Disease) Score of 20. The scores start at 6 and go to 40, 40 being the most critical patients. This score is based on several factors: blood work, along with age, height and weight this determines how much of a chance the patient has of dying within 3 months of being put on the list. Jayden is midway up the list, which is a scary thought, but he is doing so well you'd never know he was sick most of the time.
Jamie and I have also decided to request compassionate reassignment to Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas to be closer to family and have that extra support. As of today we still do not know whether or not we were granted the reassignment which at times is stressful but Im trying to focus on the positive and on getting Jayden through this transplant and on the road to recovery and a "normal" life!
If granted this reassignment, it will definitly be bittersweet, I will miss all of the good friends I have finally made here and that have been there and done so much for our family, and I will definitly miss our Childrens Mercy family! They have been a true blessing and have definitly become part of our family. I could not ask for better care, Im not even sure better care exists! We have definitly formed friendships that I hope to keep forever. On that note family is and always has been the #1 thing in my life and having them near to help will definitly relieve some stress and will make this bumpy road a little easier to get through!
Moving on, We are now working with a company called COTA (Childrens Organ Transplant Association) to raise funds to help cover the transplant expenses that the insurance does not cover! We are still in need of some volunteers to help the campaign managers do some fundraising in AZ and OH. If anyone is interested please let me know! Here is the link to Jaydens COTA webpage:
This will probably be my last post on here for a while as COTA has requested that I do all my future updates and blogs on Jaydens COTA webpage. As of right now his webpage is a work in progress but will very soon be great!
Please visit his new webpage and pass the link along... Keep our little angel in your prayers, as I know that aside from God and Childrens Mercy Hospital these prayers are what have brought him this far!
